The BASIC-S is a significantly improved version of the legacy basic. It now utilizes the same processor as the Linker-II products which adds a lot of features that are missing on the legacy BASIC processor.
In addition, the audio paths have been rebuilt and improved, making them easier to use and understand functionally.
COS/CTCSS configuration (polarity) is no longer requiring the use to program settings or mess with finding a compatible radio to meet the default input needs. Now it is as simple as installing a jumper for setting active high or active low.
The DB9 connectors have been changed to follow the repeater controller standard pinouts making it easier to upgrade later without needing new cables as well.
